Fly into Kuusamo Airport (it’s small, but that’s part of the charm). From Helsinki, you can hop on a domestic flight operated by Finnair. There are five bike spots per flight, so book early.

The nearest train station of Kemijärvi is 120 km from Ruka. Train tickets can be booked through vr.fi and you’ll need to book a space for your bike. You can then book a transfer through Matkahuolto, whether it’s for you and your bike, or just for your luggage if you choose to ride the 120 km to your first night’s accommodation.
